Hyperdrive

Netflix Originals — Branding + Show Graphics
+ Information

Multiple courses built on a 100 acre industrial site, over 20 unique obstacles, hundreds of cameras and petabytes of footage made Netflix’s groundbreaking vehicular competition Hyperdrive, one of the most logistically complex competition shows ever broadcast.

The brainchild of the creators of Battle Bots and Executive Producer Charlize Theron, Hyperdrive is a new type of experience, one that challenged its producers to communicate a complex set of rules and tournament structure to the audience. Drawing inspiration from motorsports, competition events and the world of video games; Midnight Sherpa created a comprehensive graphics package and branding eco-system to guide audiences through a groundbreaking television experience.

A clean and holistic design system used four colors to break down speed, penalties, obstacle hazards, and driver positions; all of which are crucial to following the show and individual driver progress. Course carousels, illustrated icons and obstacle explainer graphics helped to drive home the danger and level of precision required. An impactful Main Title was created to set the stage and capture the energy of the show.

Through intelligent design we helped keep viewers engaged and informed across a ten episode thrill ride, from the first rev of the throttle, to the crowning of the final champion.
