WE Summit — Conference Titles + Experience Design
Desktop Metal has reinvented the metal fabrication process making mass production of high fidelity parts accessible to engineers, designers, and manufacturers alike. Through four 3D printing systems, the smallest of which is not much bigger than an office laserjet printer, they have been able to greatly improve efficiency, reduce material waste and bring down the cost of metallic parts creation.
Founded in 2015, Desktop Metal is a young company with a similar brand ethos to many contemporary tech companies. Midnight Sherpa were approached to create a catalogue of content films ranging from sleek 3D renders to detailed product demos that would form the core of the online presence for DM.
Working in close communication with the marketing and engineering teams at Desktop Metal, Midnight Sherpa used industrial design models and data to create visuals of each of the complex stages of production with the same level of meticulous precision applied to the manufacturing itself. Reaching a certain level of intimacy with not only the technology developed by Desktop Metal but also the physical qualities of the materials used.
